Native Restoration

At Backyard Eco Restoration, we are dedicated to restoring the beauty and health of your landscape through native plant restoration. Our comprehensive services are designed to bring your property back to its natural roots, enhancing biodiversity, improving soil and water health, and creating stable, low-maintenance landscapes.

Our Services

We offer a full suite of native plant restoration services to ensure your project is successful from start to finish. Whether you’re looking to restore a small garden, a retired farm block or a streambank, we’re here to guide you every step of the way.

Site Assessment & Planning

Our revegetation process begins with a detailed site assessment to understand your landscape's unique conditions. We evaluate soil health, hydrology, light, and existing vegetation to create a custom restoration plan tailored to your needs. Whether it’s a residential property, business, or public space, our planning ensures the right species are chosen for optimal growth and ecological function.

Weed Spraying & Brush Cutting

Invasive species can quickly take over and outcompete native plants. To give your restoration project the best chance of success, we offer targeted weed spraying and brush cutting services. Using the correct methods, we eliminate unwanted vegetation, allowing native plants to thrive.

Planting Native Species

We specialize in selecting and planting a diverse array of New Zealand native plants that are perfectly suited to your local climate, soil, and ecosystem. Our team carefully handles each step of the planting process to ensure proper soil preparation and correct planting depth, maximizing the health and longevity of your new landscape.

Post-Plant Care & Management

Once your plants are in the ground, our work doesn’t stop. We provide ongoing care to ensure that your restoration thrives. Our post-plant care services include watering, mulching, hand or spray releasing and monitoring for pests or diseases. We also offer guidance on maintenance practices to keep your landscape healthy for years to come.

Our Projects

We’re proud to have completed numerous tree planting and native plant restoration projects across Hawke’s Bay. Our work spans a diverse range of clients, including local iwi, government agencies, businesses, private landowners, and local nurseries.

  • Collaborating with the Hawke’s Bay Regional Council (HBRC): We’ve partnered on large-scale restoration projects to help restore vital ecosystems throughout the region.

  • Partnerships with Local Iwi: Working alongside iwi, we’ve restored culturally significant landscapes, integrating traditional knowledge to honor community values.

  • Supporting Businesses & Private Landowners: From commercial properties to private estates, we help create ecologically rich, sustainable landscapes.

  • Partnering with Local Nurseries: We collaborate with local nurseries to source high-quality, eco-sourced native plants, ensuring the success and sustainability of every project.

We’re proud to contribute to the restoration and protection of Hawke’s Bay’s natural environment for future generations.
